South Green Elementary gets an upgrade
GLASGOW, Ky. – Glasgow Independent School District recently finished construction on the annex to the original South Green Elementary.
It’s a complete 360 from the old building, and it’s a breath of fresh air for both students and staff. Though it’s taken some getting used to, everyone loves it.
The layout is very open, allowing for more creativity during the school day, as well as keeping up the camaraderie among teachers. Rather than grades being far apart, second-grade classrooms for example, are all right next to each other while third-grade is right across the common area.
Another interesting thing about the building is that there are common areas or hubs between classrooms, allowing for flexible seating and learning outside of the classroom.
The “gem” of the school is the “discovery lab”, sitting right in the middle of the first floor. It’s like a library, but has a very large interactive screen for presentations as well which they have already used.
Overall, everyone is ecstatic about the new school and administration is looking forward to moving into a couple of hundred preschoolers in the old building when possible.
