Refugee and immigrant addictions resources event to take place Tuesday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Neighborhood and Community Services has gathered resources from different community groups to give aid to New Americans who are in need of addiction recovery resources.

The city has brought in LifeSkills, JourneyPure and KY S.T.E.P.S. to give leaders of the many immigrant and refugee communities in the area resources for combating addiction.

International Community Liaison for BG Leyda Decker says that the topic has come up in many of her meetings.

“One of the most common inquiries over the last year, or even more than that, has been the prevalence of drug and alcohol addiction and families trying to assist within the same household, adult relatives trying to figure out how to navigate the resources,” Decker said.

The meeting will be held at the Neighborhood and Community Services building in Bowling Green at 5 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
