BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Tennessee Valley Authority has lifted its request to use less electricity thanks to residents conserving energy.

BGMU stated Wednesday afternoon that efforts from the service area to use less electricity helped prevent the situation from becoming critical.

Customers were asked yesterday to conserve power during an increased demand. Winter storms have dropped temperatures to dangerous levels this week, leading to an all-time energy demand Wednesday morning.

TVA and power company crews worked all hours to make power available to customers as quickly as possible. Additionally, TVA ran all of the available generating units at full capacity, bought available power from nearby utilities and reduced electricity delivery to large customers who bought interruptible power.

Thanks to the efforts of the community, consumers can begin using normal levels electricity.
