New Corvette hardtop convertible unveiled while Bowling Green workers remain on strike

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Thursday marked the 18th day of the United Auto Workers strike against General Motors, and while Corvette Assembly Plant workers in Bowling Green picketed, GM unveiled a first of its kind car made by those workers.

The 2020 Corvette Stingray hardtop convertible was unveiled at a special event at the Kennedy Space Center.

It’s the first retractable hardtop convertible in the history of the sports car.

The two-piece power hardtop can be opened and closed at speeds up to 30 mph in 16 seconds.

The new convertible will start just north of $66,000.

Chevy says it held the unveiling at the Space Center to highlight the influence aerospace design has had on the Corvette over the years.
