BGMU addresses reported issues with taste, smell of water

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – BGMU has recently fielded questions over the smell and taste of local drinking water.
BGMU says it has received reports of a metallic taste and an organic or musty taste in our service area.
The utility company says this can be from the fall season because of temperature changes, as well as low water levels in the Barren River, dryer conditions and warmer than normal fall temperatures.
BGMU says the water is safe for consumption.
To combat reported issues, BGMU says it has been changing its treatment methodology, increasing sampling and performing additional hydrant flushing throughout the system.
