Orchestra Kentucky to perform at Beshear’s inauguration Grand March

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Orchestra Kentucky will showcase its talent at the the 62nd gubernatorial inauguration Grand March for re-elected Gov. Andy Beshear and Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman.

The inauguration festivities, themed “Forward, Together,” will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The Grand March will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern Time in the rotunda of the state capitol in Frankfort, Kentucky.

According to a release by Arts of Southern Kentucky, the Grand March dates back to the mid-19th century, serving as a formal presentation of the governor, lieutenant governor and other constitutional officers.

Officials will descend one couple at a time from the third floor of the capitol to the Capitol Rotunda alongside the patriotic and majestic melodies provided by Orchestra Kentucky.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, viewers across Kentucky will be able to witness this event as the newly re-elected governor and lieutenant governor, along with other constitutional officers, take part in this symbolic tradition.

Orchestra Kentucky will be in an upper gallery of the rotunda, providing the musical backdrop for the governor and first lady’s first dance.

The release states the Grand March will culminate in a celebration, including a dance where all constitutional officers will join.

Arts of Southern Kentucky says Orchestra Kentucky is “honored to contribute to the evening’s ambiance.”

Jeffrey Reed, musical director of Orchestra Kentucky, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “To be asked to perform for one of the commonwealth’s historic traditions is an honor. We look forward to providing music that befits the significance of the evening. We extend our sincere thanks to Governor and Mrs. Beshear for allowing us to be a part of their special day.”
