WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Authorities say some are working to return a military service marker to the next of kin after it was stolen in Warren County.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office stated Wednesday that an unnamed individual stole the marker from a local church cemetery before taking it to a scrap yard.

Officials say the scrap yard bought that marker and contacted an area funeral home to return it to family.

The sheriff’s office has not released the name of the individual in this incident but says it plans to seek charges.

Officials say violating graves is a Class D felony in Warren County.
