Woman charged with reckless homicide in July crash

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A woman is facing charges in connection with a crash that killed two people in July.
In a release posted Wednesday, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office says Amanda Farris, 32, was arrested on Nov. 2. She faces charges of reckless homicide, second-degree assault and speeding 15 miles per hour over the speed limit.
On July 10, the sheriff’s office says it responded to the 5700 block of New Glasgow Road for a wreck with injuries.
Authorities say roadwork was taking place at the scene that day and stopped traffic in the southbound lane.
A white Chevrolet Equinox remained behind a tractor trailer when a black Ford Escape struck the back of the Chevrolet, officials say. According to authorities, this caused the Chevrolet to hit the back of the tractor trailer.
The driver of the Chevrolet sustained injuries, while authorities say two of the vehicle’s passengers died as a result of the crash.
Authorities say following an investigation, they found that the driver of the Ford Escape, Amanda Farris, 32, was speeding that day and never used her brakes before the collision.
Farris was taken to the Allen County Detention Center.
