Road closures in downtown Bowling Green for parades

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This Friday and Saturday, some roads will be closed as parades travel through downtown Bowling Green.

Western Kentucky University’s Homecoming Parade is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. However, be prepared for pre-parade festivities beginning at 4 p.m.

Motorists should expect closures for the parade’s path at Cherry Hall and down College Street to Big Red’s Roar at Fountain Square, which continues into the evening. Parking will also be affected on Fountain Square. Adams Street will also be affected as parade vehicle leave the parade.

College Street parade traffic is expected to clear by around 6:15 p.m., and all street closures on Fountain Square are set to be cleared no later than 10 p.m., according to the city.

In addition, Bowling Green’s Veterans Parade is taking place at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Veterans Parade will begin and end at Circus Square, with a loop from College to East 10th Avenue and back down on State Street to Circus Square.

Street closures for this parade are expected as early as 6 a.m. near the Kummer Little Recreation Center up to Circus Square Park.
