FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear announced the first round of funding Friday that will go toward developing a network of electric vehicle charging stations.

In total, Beshear’s office says $10.9 million in funding under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program has been approved.

With this funding, Beshear says crews will construct 16 public charging stations at several locations, including Horse Cave, Kentucky.

For that station alone, a subsidy of $725,000 will go toward construction. The charging station will be located off of Interstate 65 at the 4000 L&N Turnpike in Horse Cave.

Each station must offer at least four chargers and be accessible to the public around the clock, Beshear says.

Developers now have 90 days to meet specific conditions before a project agreement will be completed.
