BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Former Warren County judge-executive Mike Buchanon is among the recipients of the 2023 Governor’s Awards in the Arts.

According to a release by the governor’s office, the honor is one of Kentucky’s most prestigious awards.

The award honors dedication to sharing the commonwealth’s art history, officials say. Out of nine categories, Buchanon won the Government Award.

“It gives me great pride to honor these talented artists who show such dedication to sharing the arts with Kentuckians across our commonwealth,” Gov. Andy Beshear said. “This year’s honorees have made integral contributions to Kentucky’s thriving arts industry. I want to thank all of these artists for bringing the stories of Kentuckians to life, and ensuring those stories live on for generations to come.”

Buchanon serves as a board member of Arts of Southern Kentucky.

Nominations for the next Governor’s Awards in the Arts will be accepted from Jan. 17 to March 3.
