Westen Street, Ashley Circle roundabout project to enter final phases of construction

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Westen Street and Ashley Circle roundabout project will be entering its final phases of construction Monday.
Drivers can expect crews to be working on the center island, causing a larger impact on traffic.
When work begins, this intersection will go from operating as a four-way stop to a modified roundabout with a temporary adjustment over standard roundabout driving procedures, city officials say.
These include a shift from the yield motions of standard roundabouts, and instead traffic will be required to stop and make right turns only in order to navigate through the intersection.
Motorists should try to avoid the area if possible during construction.
Additionally, officials say the Westen section of roadway from the Westen/Ashley intersection to the shopping center will be temporarily closed to through traffic and open to local traffic only until the project is completed.
