Kentucky Secretary of State candidate visits Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Heather French Henry stopped in Bowling Green today where she spoke at the Bowling Green Rotary Club.
In 2000, Henry became the very first Miss America from Kentucky.
Henry spoke about her passion for military veterans and about how she used her Miss America platform to give back to the nation’s veterans. She did not address the Rotary Club about her candidacy.
Henry is currently the Democratic candidate running for Kentucky Secretary of State against Republican Michael Adams. She has served as the commissioner and deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.
In an interview after the meeting, Henry said if elected, she will be focused on making voting more easily accessible and will put in an effort to build a strong relationship with county clerks throughout the state.
“Regardless of the outcome, if we win, that is great, I do expect a good turnout. If we lose, I’ve ran the campaign in a manner with which I can be proud of and I can look back on and tell my daughters, ‘listen, we did it the right way,’” Henry said.
