Warren County firework ordinance in effect

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Fourth of July is coming up, and local fireworks tents are starting to pop up in the community. One local owner says he’s excited to celebrate the county and his favorite holiday.

“The Fourth of July for me has always been my favorite holiday, so I enjoy helping other people find what they want and what they need to to have fun on the Fourth of July,” Brian Starkey, owner of the MAD Fireworks tent on the 31-W Bypass, says.

However, if you plan on shooting fireworks before the fourth, make sure to follow the county ordinances for Warren County.

“We do have an ordinance and we have hours that you can legally shoot off fireworks… It starts June 27th, that’s all the way till July 3rd, and that’s from noon to 10 p.m. July 4th, you can shoot them all the way until 11 p.m., and then July 5th as well, noon to 10 p.m.,” Warren County Judge Executive Doug Gorman says.

If you disregard these times, be prepared to feel a “Titans Wrath” from your neighbors and law enforcement.

“What we do ask, though, is you’re respectful of your neighbors, people shooting things… We don’t want anyone shooting any fireworks off after 10 p.m. before the fourth. It is one of those things: if you have neighbors, let’s try to be respectful of them as well,” Gorman says.

If you see someone shooting after the allotted times, make sure to call and report them immediately.

“We do want to enforce that because I think it is a respect issue and people should never be shooting off fireworks in those times. After 10 p.m., the 4th again until 11. That is plenty of time for people to enjoy their freedoms. But please, it does make a difference for things. Also, I think people should remember that a lot of pets are bothered by these fireworks. So I would hope people be respectful of each other and their neighbors,” Gorman says.
