Mental Health Awareness Month with LifeSkills

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Mental Health Awareness Month is ongoing, and LifeSkills wants you to help those who help others.

1 in every 4 adults struggle with mental health issues or illness. LifeSkills offers help in person or through telehealth to combat these issues.

A new option added in the summer of last year is 988, a hotline you can call or text if you’re having issues with substance abuse or mental health. It will put you in touch with someone who is able to help your fight.

However, an often-forgotten profession that LifeSkills wants to recognize: caregivers.

“We’re just here to help… that there doesn’t have to be a stigma with a struggle… with depression or anxiety or whatever that mental health concern is for someone, that we’re just here to support them in whatever they need in life,” Cameron Scharlow, Community Employment/Outreach Manager for the Developmental Services Division at LifeSkills says.

If you’re in your own crisis and need help, call 1-800-223-8913. You can also call their non-emergency line at 270-901-5999.
