Lady Scotties softball team gets a brand-new field

GLASGOW Ky.-Fresh chalk, a dugout, and new seating. It’s all part of the brand-new softball field of Glasgow High School.

Rigdon-Kiser Field at Bush Stadium is the brand-new softball field on Glasgow High School’s campus. It recently had its ribbon cutting and will be ready for the Lady Scotties this fall. Glasgow High School Athletic Director Craig Cassady said this has been a need for quite some time.

“I know the field is something that this program has wanted for a long time. The fact that we actually have this thing built and ready for our girls to play in is something very special,” Cassidy said.

Before this field existed, the Lady Scotties practiced and played at the American Legion Park 8 minutes from campus. On March 2018, the Glasgow Independent Board of Education approved the field.

“If it weren’t for the visions of our administration, Superintendent Keith Hale, Dr. Amy Allen our school principal, and of course the board members,  without them, this would not be possible,” Cassady said.

Former Lady Scottie Amanda Lee didn’t get the chance to play on this new field, but she said she’s thankful that the upcoming girls will have it.

“Of course, I would’ve loved to play on this field. You see how beautiful it is. I’m super happy that the future Lady Scotties have a nice facility that they can enjoy for years to come,” said Lee.

While she won’t be a part of the team this season, Lee leaves this advice for the upcoming players.

“I would just tell them to make sure that they enjoy this facility. Don’t take it for granted because it’s not something that every team has and we’ve been blessed to have such a great schoolboard that’s made this happen for us. Realize how lucky we are,” Lee said.

The new softball field is named after Glasgow High graduates Kay and Sue Bush, as well as Glasgow Independent Board Chair Amelia Rigdon- Kiser.
