Bowling Green man arrested following joint overdose death investigation
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars tonight after authorities say they found hundreds of fentanyl pills.
The Warren County Drug Task Force says it worked with Bowling Green police to gather information in an overdose death investigation. Authorities say they developed details indicating Robert Watkins, 32, of Bowling Green was trafficking M-30 pills.
The M-30 pill is also known as “The Fentanyl Pill,” according to authorities.
Around 2:15 p.m. Friday, drug task force authorities say a covert purchase of 25 M-30 pills from Watkins led to his arrest by Kentucky State Police.
The drug task force and BGPD say they executed a search warrant at Watkins’ home, which resulted in numerous discoveries.
Authorities say in the home, they seized 290 M-30 pills, 75 Xanax tablets, 53 grams of marijuana, 50.4 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of meth, one stolen handgun, one additional handgun and $17,200 in cash.
Watkins faces charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl derivatives), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl derivatives) (handgun enhancement), trafficking in marijuana, less than 8 ounces (handgun enhancement), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) (handgun enhancement), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine) (handgun enhancement) and receiving stolen property (stolen handgun).
Watkins remains in the Warren County Detention Center awaiting arraignment in Warren District Court.
