Gorman announces fundraiser for memorial scholarship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- After the passing of Brittney Gorman Parrish, her father, Doug Gorman, organized a golf scramble that will take place for the second time at Indian Hills Country Club this year to raise money to provide a $5,000 college scholarship to three students and donate $7,500 to a non-profit.

This year, Gorman announced a second event in her honor called Music and Memories for Brittney at Highland Stables with food from Steamers.

The event will take place Sept. 8, followed by Birdies for Brittney on Sept. 9.

Steve Gorman, a former member of Black Crows, and his band Trigger Hippy will play at the event.

Mayor Bruce Wilkerson, city commissioners Sue Parrigin and Slim Nash, State Sen. Mike Wilson and others attended the ribbon cutting for the fundraiser at Gorman’s business, Booth Fire and Safety.

The family said they hope to double the size of what they can do for the community every year.

“Our family has been overwhelmed by the love and support of prayers of this community… Our entire family loves this town. Brittney loved this town, and we want to continue her legacy of giving back and making this town a better place,” Gorman said.

“She was a lifelong Bowling Green resident and she went to Western and she was with Fruit of the Loom. Bowling Green was her community, it was her entire life,” said Steve Gorman, Brittney’s uncle.
