El Maz coming near WKU
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Popular Mexican restaurant El Mazatlán is opening a new location in the old WKU Chili’s.
News 40 did some surveying on campus of students when the news broke just a few days ago to see how students felt about the new eatery on campus, and even though it’s not affiliated with WKU, many students said they would patronize the new location regardless of being able to use their meal plan to cover it. Students told us that Mexican cuisine was one of if not their favorite types of food.
One sophomore said that he was from Lexington, so “El Maz” was new to him, but since he’s been on campus this semester, he’s eaten at the Nashville road location between 5 and 6 times just this month, adding “El Maz is fire, I’m super excited”. Another WKU junior said he frequents El Maz often and he is a big fan of the margaritas but had a difficult time choosing between quesadillas and nachos. To quote WKU student Corey, “We love the Mexican food, I’ll go to El Maz and get the margaritas, sometimes I’ll cop me a quesadilla, oh but the nachos smack too though!”
We also caught up with Ulysses Hernandez, an assistant manager at the Fairview location currently heading the operation. Hernandez in his interview that he was pretty confident there would be a new menu but can’t say for certain just yet. Hernandez said that every location is basically the same food, but they all have their own special alcoholic beverages that make them different.
So far it looks like the new “WK El Mazatlán” will open sometime in late October to early November.
