Local World War II veterans honored at the Russellville-Logan County Airport
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – The Russellville-Logan County Airport hosted a special event Saturday afternoon.
Seven local World War II veterans were honored in front of friends, family, and spectators.
Glenn Nuyt, Leon Tarter, Robert Long, James Wren, and Janice Bell, five of the seven veterans, flew in a 1944 B25 bomber plane. Everyone was able to take photos of the plane and see the B25 bomber take off and land at the airport.
The veteran’s ages range from 95-101 years old.
Honor Flight Bluegrass organizer, Jeff Thoke, says it is an incredible experience seeing WWII veterans fly in a WWII plane and is thankful for the veterans who helped change the course of this country.
