Bowling Green celebrates two Special Olympic athletes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The community celebrated two athletes at Circus Square Park for bringing home the gold at the 2022 Special Olympic games.
Casey Freeman and Brianna Goode are two of 34 athletes from Kentucky who competed at the USA games in Orlando, Florida.
The two put on quite a performance in the bowling doubles category, winning gold medals with a score of 528.
Today, Freeman and Goode were recognized for their achievements and even made time to sign autographs for fans.
“It feels insane. It feels like a dream. I never expected myself to make it this far,” said Goode. Freeman added, “It feels good knowing that hard work pays off.”
Goode now has two gold medals and Freeman has a gold medal and a fourth-place finish.
Their eyes are now set on making it to the World Special Olympics being held in Berlin, Germany in 2023.
