Rep. Brett Guthrie speaks with local fifth graders about federal government

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Monday morning around 9 a.m., Rep. Brett Guthrie met with fifth graders at W.R. McNeill Elementary School for a quick lesson on the three branches of the federal government.

Guthrie explained the differences between the legislative, executive and judicial branches and how they related to history and present laws.

The visit was a unique opportunity for Guthrie to meet with faculty, teachers and students.

“I got invited to come here as a parent, and as you can see by my answers to their questions today and reaction to my presentation that they are really learning the separation of powers here. And who knows, hopefully this touched somebody that will remember in the future and maybe there will be somebody who will be inspired to run for office.”

Guthrie is spending the day visiting with students across the state.
