A sweet tooth for positivity: meet ‘Jolly Jonny”
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Local man Jon Dial is known for his positivity.
“He’s always happy, always happy. always looking to help somebody,” said his brother Jake Dial.
So much so that he’s known as ‘Jolly Jonny’ to people in the Bowling Green and Glasgow communities.
“We came up with Jolly Jonny because a lot of people said well you’re always jolly no matter what the situation is. And I said well you know I make the best of every situation we can go around and be negative if you wanna be if that’s something you wanna do, that’s not gonna do anything for everybody around me so.”
Dial owns Plethora Powersports Outdoors and Marine. He bought the store last year, wanting to be a business owner and fill a need in the community.
“Of course everyone who has a yard pays for their yard to be mowed, or they have to pay for a lawnmower. And everyone that can and wants to have recreational things to do like side by sides is always fun to go out and do,” said Dial.
He’s always stayed positive, even despite the difficult times.
His Bowling Green location was destroyed by the December tornadoes.
He thought quickly and put up a temporary showroom on Kentucky Street.
“That was the main thing. People said well why would you want to go to a warehouse and try to run a business out of it? Because we care about the people. I care about the community, I want to help Bowling Green,” said Dial.
The best part about Jolly Jonny? He gives out jolly ranchers to every kid that he meets.
“Well Jolly Jonny? You gotta have a trademark, you gotta have something right?” said Dial.
