BGPD mourns loss of beloved K-9 officer

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – K-9 Max, a member of the Bowling Green Police Department, has died peacefully after a struggle with health issues, according to a Facebook post by the BGPD.

The post went on to issue the following statement about K-9 Max:

“Max joined the department in 2016 as a dual-purpose K9 used for narcotics detection and tracking/apprehension. Max was partnered with Master Police Officer David Sterner and immediately the two became friends and a great team for the department. Officer Sterner and Max worked diligently in the fight against drugs, always working to be the best. Max assisted in removing copious amounts of drugs from our community and assisted our partner agencies as well. We are very grateful for his abilities and years of service to the agency and our community.”
