KY Transportation Cabinet gives $565,332 to resurface six Simpson County roads

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Local Simpson County officials held a fiscal court meeting covering a wide range of topics.

It began with a funding announcement made by Commissioner Gray Tomblyn from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Tomblyn shared that Simpson County is receiving $565,332 towards resurfacing six roads in the city.

Those include Dinwiddie, Duers Mill, Henry Clay Smith, Peden Mill, Gregory and Brizendine road.

The meeting also covered the upcoming Simpson County census that residents can fill out online for the first time.

Community Action Transportation’s Director Carroll Duckworth shared their plans to use grant money for growing their reach.

Tomblyn’s announcement is one part of Governor Bevin’s goal in addressing infrastructure needs.

Officials also recognized Robert Matthews, an electrical inspector who’s retiring after 18 years with the county.
