LOWMANSVILLE, Ky. – A 20-year-old Kentucky woman is dead following a crash in Lawrence County.

According to a release, the Kentucky State Police responded Thursday, June 18 around 6:35 a.m. CST to a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger car and tractor-trailer.

Authorities say the crash occurred on U.S. 23 in the Lomansville community of Lawrence County.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation showed 22-year-old Johnathan Haney was driving a 2012 Kia Sorento southbound on U.S. 23 when the vehicle crossed the median into northbound lanes, colliding with a tractor-trailer.

Authorities say as a result, a passenger in the car, 20-year-old Kaitlyn Delong of Lovely, Kentucky, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County coroner.

Haney was transported to Saint Mary’s Medical Center, where troopers say he was listed as remaining in critical condition as of Thursday.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
