2 arrested after alleged plan to smuggle drugs into Caldwell Co. Jail

CALDWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WPKY) – Two people are behind bars after an alleged plan to smuggle drugs into the Caldwell County Jail.
That’s according to a report by WPKY, which states police “uncovered a plan to use a work-release inmate as a courier to smuggle drugs.”
According to WPKY, Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison stated 39-year-old Dusti Peterson was taken into custody on Wednesday after authorities investigated a drop-off of nearly 1.3 grams of methamphetamine.
WPKY reports authorities stated Peterson hid the drugs in a specific area, which were intended for a work-release inmate to pick up and deliver to 41-year-old Jowan Riley, who was already incarcerated at the jail.
WPKY says another warrant was served to Riley at the jail Wednesday for allegedly having a role in the plan.
Both individuals are charged with first-degree complicity in trafficking a controlled substance and first-degree attempt to promote contraband.
The investigation remains ongoing.
