1 injured, 1 sought by troopers after shooting in Whitley County

SILER, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police says it is searching for a man after a shooting in Whitley County sent another to the hospital.

According to troopers, on Aug. 21, the agency was contacted regarding a shooting that had occurred on Harps Creek Road.

The victim, 64-year-old Delbert Bolton of Siler, sustained a gunshot wound, authorities say.

Bolton was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health in Corbin and later flown to the University of Kentuck Albert B. Chandler Hospital, where he remains in their care, according to troopers.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation determined 27-year-old Zachary A. Partin of Siler and Bolton had been in an argument at Bolton’s home. Troopers say the argument escalated before Partin shot Bolton in the abdomen and fled the scene.

Troopers say they searched the area and home for Partin, who has not been located.
