1 dead after motorcycle crash in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Ky. – One man is dead following a reported motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday in Boone County.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday around 6:42 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in front of 11007 Dixie Highway in Walton.
Authorities say a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 47-year-old Robert Shulze of Williamstown was traveling southbound on Dixie Highway when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve at the intersection at Duffel Lane.
The motorcycle left the road, struck a culvert and collided with a metal gate belonging to a business at 11007 Dixie Highway, the sheriff’s office states.
Deputies say Shulze was thrown from the motorcycle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, speed and alcohol use are suspected to be contributing factors. In addition, deputies say Shulze was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
