1 dead after collision in Carroll County, 1 arrested

CARROLLTON, Ky. – One person is dead and another is behind bars after a fatal crash in Carroll County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, troopers responded to a single-vehicle collision Wednesday, resulting in one death.

Troopers say a preliminary investigation found a Jeep driven by 33-year-old Luis Antonio Orduno of Carrollton ran off of the right side of West Jay Louden Road, began sliding sideways and eventually crashed into a nearby building.

The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Luis F. Mayoral Moguel of Glencoe, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner’s Office.

Next of kin has been notified.

Orduno was transported to University of Louisville Hospital and received treatment for his injuries. Orduno was later transported and lodged at the Carroll County Detention Center.

He faces charges of vehicular homicide, first-degree operating a motor vehicle under the influence, no operator’s license, no insurance and first-degree criminal mischief.

Mayoral Moguel was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville, where autopsy and toxicology results are pending.

This incident remains under investigation.
