1 dead, 8 others sustain serious injuries in Hopkins County crash

HANSON, Ky. – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash.

According to a release, HCSO responded to a head-on collision Sunday afternoon near 5575 Stagecoach Road (HWY 1069) in Hanson.

HCSO says Deborah Townsell was driving south on Stagecoach Road and entered the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a vehicle driven by Christopher Cook.

Lucian Townsell, a passenger in Deborah Townsell’s vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner.

Deborah Townsell sustained severe injuries and was transported to an out-of-state hospital.

Cook and his six passengers sustained serious injuries and were transported to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
