1 dead, 2 injured after crash in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – One person is dead following a crash in Laurel County on Friday.

According to Sheriff John Root with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, a two-vehicle fatal crash occurred on North Laurel Road just before 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities say a Mercedes was traveling soutbound on U.S. 25 when it allegedly crossed the center line and struck a northbound Chevrolet truck head on.

Deputies say the driver of the Mercedes, 69-year-old George Ferrell of London, Kentucky, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County coroner.

Authorities say the driver of the Chevrolet, 26-year-old Jerry Grady of East Bernstadt, along with a 17-year-old female, were both transported by ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of possible injuries.

Assisting at the scene for the Sheriff’s Office were: Captain Richard Dalrymple, Deputy Adam Napier and Deputy Tristen House, the Laurel County Coroner’s office, Ambulance Inc of Laurel County, East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue and Eco-Tec. The investigation is ongoing.
