WKU football offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder shares player-led coaching philosophy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU football has seen a new offensive coordinator nearly every season since head coach Tyson Helton took over in 2019, but the latest addition, Bodie Reeder, comes from a school that Hilltopper fans might be pretty familiar with.

Reeder spent two seasons just 100 miles down the road at Middle Tennessee State where he coached an offense that came in second in the league in passing offense both years, right behind WKU.

His other stops consist of Northern Iowa, North Texas, Eastern Washington, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin-Stout and Eastern Illinois.

This week at WKU football’s local media day, Reeder shared about his coaching philosophy of letting his players lead the way.

He believes being a player-led team is when an offense truly finds success.

“ These guys will determine the schemes that we run, and we’re gonna do what they’re good at,” Reeder said. “I feel like I have a good idea of where this team’s headed, but now is the time to cement it in the next two and a half weeks of fall camp and allow themselves to create an identity and a DNA going forward with things that they’re confident in.”

The Hilltoppers open the season at Nevada on September 5, 2026.
