Winterfest coming to the Capitol Theater

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A free and indoor event is coming this Friday and for several Fridays to follow.

At the Capitol Theater in Bowling Green, the Downtown Redevelopment Authority or RDA is putting on their first winterfest concert. Similar to concerts in the park, this one will be inside the historic Capitol Theater. Of course it’s free to the public and everyone is welcome to come out for business as usual.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with shows starting at 7 p.m. and lasting till around 9 p.m., Ron Murphy tells us. Murphy, the executive director of the RDA has a personal stake in Bowling Green’s downtown area as he is a BG native. Murphy recalled in his interview with News 40 how happening the downtown scene used to be when he was in his younger years and wants to continue to facilitate things for the community to provide ways for residents to form the same kind of cherished memories he has of downtown.

“It’s free to the public, it’s family fun and I think it’s important to get people together in a space befitting of the community.” Murphy said.

The concerts will feature local bands and go on every Friday night till the end of February.
