Videos utilizing paint show how to properly wash hands

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Videos have been circling the internet teaching people how to properly wash your hands… using paint.

These videos have been created to show that hand washing is not just as simple as rubbing some soap between your hands and rinsing.

Experts say you should scrub soap between all of your fingers, palms, and the back of each hand for a solid 25 seconds before rising with warm water.

While you should still wash your hands constantly, if you are choosing to wear gloves out in public, Arielle Dorris, a nurse in Bowling Green, said, “If you wear the gloves, you go in Walmart, you push the buggie, then you come out of Walmart and you take the gloves off after you get done pushing the buggie or something. The gloves are not going to help if you wear the gloves continuously, touch things continuously. That’s going to be the same thing as your hands, I mean, the gloves get contaminated just like your hands can.”

If you are going to use hand sanitizer, the Mayo Clinic says to make sure the product contains at least 60% alcohol.
