The demolition of the Uptown Motel was a decision that was finalized in early February.

Owner Dilawar Dwivedi, 73, turned the property over to law enforcement as part of a plea deal. Several tenants were evicted as a result.

The Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force says it received a complaint in June 2022 regarding illegal drug trafficking at 205 S. Court St. at the Uptown Motel. In November 2022, officials say Dwivedi was indicted on seven counts of trafficking in a controlled substance of illegal narcotics. Dwivedi was later arrested in March 2023.

Dwivedi pled guilty in Allen Circuit Court in September to multiple counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, according to officials.

Now, the property’s future is still in the hands of the Scottsville Police Department and Allen County sheriff.

News 40 will continue to follow future updates on the property.
