UPDATE: Name released of driver in crash at Greenwood Mall

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The identity of the driver who died after a crash Saturday at Greenwood Mall has been released.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says Jermiah D. Whitney, 31, operated the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix that struck the outside of the building near Belk.
Authorities say Whitney died due to what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle struck the mall after deputies attempted a traffic stop at PNC Bank.
A passenger in the Pontiac, Thomas Burton, 34, exited the vehicle and was detained.
Burton has since been charged with first-degree bail jumping, failure to appear and persistent felony offender.
Burton remains in the Warren County Detention Center.
