Turner named Metcalfe County Lady Hornets coach

EDMONTON, Ky. – The Lady Hornets have a new coach.

According to a release, Metcalfe County High School has selected Matt Turner as the new coach of the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets basketball team.

Turner has 12 years of coaching experience, recently coaching at Taylor County High School.

Turner led the Lady Cardinals to the 5th Region Championship and Elite Eight of the KHSAA Sweet 16 State Tournament in the 2024-2025 season. He was also named the 2024-2025 KABC 5th Region Coach of the Year.

“I can’t wait to get in the gym and start working with our players to continue to build on the history of success the Lady Hornets have seen in recent years. I want to sincerely thank the administration for placing their trust in me,” said Turner.

The Lady Hornets finished the 2025-2026 season with a 14-12 record.
