Trump on brink of impeachment

President Trump is on the brink of impeachment, as the House prepares for a historic vote.

(NBC News) WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump is on the brink of impeachment, as the House prepares for a historic vote.

Lawmakers are debating the two articles of impeachment on the House Floor. They charge Mr. Trump with abuse of power – for trying to enlist a foreign power for his own political benefit – and obstruction of congress – for blocking lawmakers from investigating his actions.

After six hours of debate, virtually all Democrats are expected to vote to impeach.

Republicans are supporting the president and accusing Democrats of having it in for him since day one.

The president acknowledged the pending impeachment tweeting, “SUCH ATROCIOUS LIES BY THE RADICAL LEFT, DO NOTHING DEMOCRATS. THIS IS AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA, AND AN ASSAULT ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!”

After a Senate trial in January, Mr. Trump is unlikely to lose his office; however, today he’s finding himself in rare company, with only two other presidents in history to be impeached.
