Trump declares National Emergency

(NBC News) President Trump has declared a national emergency to combat the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The move opens waives regulations and opens more funding.

“I’m urging every state to set up emergency operations centers immediately,” Mr. Trump said.

“I’m also asking every hospital in the country to activate their emergency preparedness plans to meet the needs of Americans everywhere,” he added.

The emergency declaration is a major turning point for the president, who’s come under fire for downplaying the threat while states began their own battle plans to deal with the spread of the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, after negotiating with the White House, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is rolling out a relief package to help American families. It includes paid sick leave, food assistance and free coronavirus testing.
