The Salvation Army of Bowling Green to honor local community leaders

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – National Salvation Army Week is around the corner, and The Salvation Army of Bowling Green is highlighting its impact in the community while announcing its upcoming Champions of Hope Luncheon.
According to the Salvation Army, Salvation Army Week is May 11-17, a time to recognize its “commitment to meeting human needs without discrimination.” Locally, The Salvation Army of Bowling Green says it continues that mission each day.
As part of that recognition, the nonprofit will host a luncheon, honoring those whose leadership and service have made a difference in Bowling Green.
The nonprofit’s upcoming Champions of Hope Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 at 11:30 a.m. at threeTHIRTYone Event Venue at 331 Kentucky St.
This year, the nonprofit says the luncheon will honor Joe Davis as the 2026 Champion of Hope, recognizing more than 22 years of faithful service and leadership in support of The Salivation Army’s mission.
“Davis’s commitment and generosity have helped strengthen programs that provide critical help and hope to individuals and families throughout Bowling Green and Warren County,” the nonprofit stated.
In addition, The Salvation Army of Bowling Green will recognize Capt. Johnny and Cart. Monica Horton as Champions of Hope in acknowledgement of their dedicated leadership as corps officers in Bowling Green. The Hortons have served the community since June 2021 and have recently received orders to serve at The Salvation Army of Chattanooga, Tennessee, concluding five years of ministry in Bowling Green. During their tenure, they have guided key programs, strengthened community partnerships, and ensured compassionate care for neighbors in need.
“National Salvation Army Week is a time to reflect on the impact this organization has in communities across the country, and especially here in Bowling Green,” said Tony Witty, chair of The Salvation Army of Bowling Green Advisory Board. “Joe Davis and Captains Johnny and Monica Horton exemplify servant leadership and a deep commitment to others. Their contributions have strengthened our ability to serve and have brought lasting hope to countless individuals and families.”
