The revitalization of the Historic Railpark and Train Museum
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Historic RailPark and Train Museum is working to raise funds to restore the windows of the 100-year-old L&N Depot in Bowling Green.
Organizers say the project is part of a larger effort to preserve the historic building, which has played a key role in the city’s development. In the early 1900s, local leaders raised $1 million to ensure the Louisville & Nashville Railroad chose Bowling Green as a stop along its line.
Since then, millions of people have passed through the depot, contributing to the city’s growth and economy.
Jessica Warren, development director for the Historic RailPark, says preserving buildings like the depot helps keep the community’s history alive.
“All these beautiful buildings and homes were built to last,” Warren said. “They’re an important part of our story: the story of Bowling Green and the people who came before us.”
Warren says restoring the depot is about honoring that history while investing in the future.
“I feel like it’s our duty to raise the rest of the funds to honor what was done so many years ago,” she said. “We want to make sure this building is here for generations to come, but it won’t happen without the support of our community.”
Organizers say they have raised about $114,000 so far toward the restoration project.
