Former trooper, director of Trooper Island allegedly stole camp funds

CLINTON COUNTY, Ky. (K105) – A former Kentucky State Police trooper and the former director of Trooper Island Kids Camp in Kentucky is facing charges associated with allegedly stealing funds from the camp.

That’s according to a report by K105, which states a Clinton County Grand Jury has indicted 46-year-old Jonathan Biven on a charge of theft by unlawful taking (more than $10,000, less than $1 million.)

K105 reports Biven is accused of stealing the funds between January 1, 2019 and September 30, 2024 when he retired from the Kentucky State Police.

According to the report by K105, authorities learned of “potential misappropriation” of funds for the camp after Biven retired.

Trooper Island Camp works to offer a program to underprivileged youth each summer throughout multiple Kentucky counties, with children gathering off of Dale Hollow Lake for activities alongside troopers.

According to K105, the warrant for Biven’s arrest had been issued Monday, Aug. 10.
