T.J. Community Mission Foundation awarded a grant to allow for the purchase of car seats for families
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The T.J. Community Mission Foundation is partnering with the Women and Newborn Care Department at T.J. Samson Community Hospital to support new parents in the region.
The foundation awarded a $4,500 grant to allow for the purchase of 30 car seats for families in need so that every child delivered at T.J. Samson will have a safe and up-to-date car seat to leave in.
This mission foundation is funded through community donors and a paycheck program that allows employees to contribute as well.
The seats are available for mothers who have their baby and maybe can’t afford a safe car seat to transport their newborn home in.
According to Randy Burns, the executive director of the foundation, in the past, this has been a problem for some mother’s who have just delivered their baby.
“We have approximately two to three families a month they come through TJ that have their babies here and you don’t have an adequate car seat to go home and when the child is born and many times what we found out was our nursing staff and our department would even collect money from each other during the night shift and then someone would make a run to Walmart to be able to purchase a car seat,” Burns said.
