Stagecoach returns to Mammoth Cave National Park

BOWLING GREEN Ky. – One of the original stage coaches that was used to transport tourists to Mammoth Cave is being returned in order to be exhibited in the parks newly renovated hotel.

A homecoming event is set to welcome this piece of tangible history back to the park on Saturday, Aug. 12. The stagecoach was used in the 1800s and early 1900s to ferry park visitors from the train into the park.

“One of our things we love to promote here is just the long history of Mammoth Cave. People have been visiting here since the early 1800s. So showing how that visitation has changed throughout history, either through transportation or the cave tour types is a great way for us to interpret the park,” Molly Schroer with the National Park Service said.
