Springfield woman leads police on motor vehicle, foot pursuit in Logan County

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shots fired call early Sunday morning.

According to a citation, a deputy was on foot looking for a shooter on East 6th Street in Russellville after hearing gunshots. The deputy says more than 50 rounds were fired.

While pursuing the subject, the deputy could hear more gunshots and observed multiple subjects running and saying they did not know who the shooter was.

The deputy ran toward the gunfire in the direction East 4th Street. While running, the deputy says a gray 2016 Ford Mustang, operating at a high speed, traveling toward Franklin Street. According to the deputy, the vehicle was “extremely loud.”

An officer witnessed the vehicle turning onto KY 100 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle did not comply with the traffic stop.

The vehicle reached speeds over 100mph and did not stop at the KY 100 and Bypass traffic lights. The vehicle turned right into a subdivision and ran over a fire pit near a residence. The operator of the vehicle exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot.

A deputy located the operator of the vehicle hiding near the residence.

The operator is identified as Jamoni Wilson, 26 of Springfield, TN.

The citation states that Wilson admitted to fleeing from officers due to fear of the shooting.

Officers say they could smell alcohol on Wilson’s person. Wilson consented and submitted to a breath test (.148). An open alcohol bottle was located in the vehicle.

According to the citation, Wilson possessed a gun. Officers say they do not believe Wilson is the shooter.

The investigation is ongoing.

Wilson was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.

Wilson is charged with speeding 26mph over the speed limit, reckless driving, vehicle nuisance (noisy, etc.), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (189A.010(1A) – 1st), possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited, fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree (on foot), fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree (motor vehicle) and wanton endangerment 2nd degree (police officer).
