Solar ordinance passed in Barren County

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. –  You may remember previous reports on the possibility of solar farms coming to Barren County.

On Tuesday, the solar ordinance was officially read and passed during a second reading. An amendment was also introduced and approved, solidifying the ordinance’s adoption. The amendment allows neighboring property owners to agree on reducing the required setback distance.

Barren County judge executive Jamie Byrd explained, “It’s not going to stop solar. People still have the option to do that if they choose.”

The ordinance includes a standard 1,000-foot setback for solar farm developments.

With this ordinance in place, Barren County takes a significant step toward embracing renewable energy.
