SoKY Gives partners with DSSKY for the holidays

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The 4th SoKY Gives took place Tuesday afternoon at the Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky’s Buddy House.

WNKY partnered with DSSKY to give back to the community right before the holidays.

“The SoKY Gives promotion that we’ve done this year has been so heartwarming but today is incredibly special. Because we get to anticipate the excitement on the faces of the buddies here at DSSKY. And just imagining the smiles on their faces and the giggles and just the excitement that this season should bring, knowing that we’re a part of it is incredible,” said WNKY’S general manager Julie Milam.

DSSKY serves roughly 144 families that have a child with Down Syndrome.

Volunteers, including WNKY staff members, today stuffed over 144 stockings for those families with gifts, treats, and candy to give to those families.

They hope these make their holidays a little brighter and let the families know that people are thinking of them.

“Not being able to be in person with everybody this year has made it really hard. So this at least gives me the spirit of I’m getting to pick things out and put them in the stockings. And provide something to let them know Stephanie’s been thinking of you, DSSKY’s been thinking of you, and we love you,” said DSSKY’S executive director Stephanie Morton.

WNKY continues to support the Bowling Green community because we truly believe that local matters.

“Our message to viewers literally is love one another. And we have to start right here at home because local matters,” said Milam.
