SKYPAC generates $16.8M in economic activity, according to study

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A recent economic impact study shows that a Bowling Green performance arts facility brings in millions in economic activity.
According to a release, the Kentucky League of Cities conducted an economic impact study that shows that the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKYPAC) generates an estimated $16.8 million in total economic activity in South Central Kentucky.
The study finds that SKYPAC’s operations and visitor spending supported 222 jobs in the Barren River Area Development District and produced almost $9.8 million in value added to the regional economy.
SKYPAC generated more than $14.3 million in economic input in the City of Bowling Green, supporting 209 jobs, according to the release.
Officials say the study analyzed SKYPAC’s economic efforts across the Barren River region, including operations, employment, and visitor spending, using IMPLAN economic modeling.
“These results demonstrate that SKYPAC is not only a cultural institution—it is a catalyst for economic growth and community vitality,” said Jeff Reed, President and CEO of the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center. “Every performance brings visitors
downtown, supports local businesses, and creates meaningful experiences that strengthen our community and make this region a place where people want to live, work, and raise their families.”
SKYPAC says it hosted 84 events and hosted 79,000 visitors in 2025.
