SKYCTC’s ‘Spirit Week’ brings students together through campus activities
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College students are showing off their school spirit this week with four days of activities designed to build connections across campus.
SKYCTC’s Spirit Week gives students an opportunity to meet one another, get involved and learn more about what the college offers outside the classroom.
The week kicked off Monday with ‘Free Drink Day’, followed by ‘College Colors Day’ on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, students gathered in the main campus courtyard for the ‘Student Life Showcase.’ The event featured free food and gave students the chance to connect with campus clubs and community organizations.
David Travis, director of student life and engagement at SKYCTC, said activities like Spirit Week are designed to create a sense of belonging for students, whether they attend classes in person or online.
“Being at SKY, being engaged with campus and meeting their needs, that’s what we’re here for,” Travis said. “When they come to campus, whether they’re online or here in person, it’s about connecting and really making this feel like another home for them, so they feel like they belong.”
Travis says creating those connections can help students become more involved in campus life and discover resources and opportunities available throughout their college experience.
Spirit Week wraps up Thursday with a campus-wide Merch Search. SKYCTC will hide goodie bags across its campuses, with students who find them getting to keep the surprises inside.
